Biography

One of the most outstanding choreographers and dancers at Dance Ensemble Singapore (DES), Goh Yan Dan, is the Resident Choreographer of DES Arts.

She was a pioneer member of DES Arts in 2003 and was quickly recognised for her talent in choreography. Under the tutelage of Artistic Advisor Mdm Yan Choong Lian, Yan Dan completed her dance training at a professional level and graduated with a Certificate in Dance Teaching awarded by DES.

Yan Dan has represented Singapore in performing extensively both locally and in Malaysia, Thailand, Macau, Turkey, Spain, France, New Zealand, Japan, Cambodia, USA and China. She has also worked with internationally renowned choreographers such as John Mead (USA), Lin Kun Yang (USA), Ying Er Ding (Macau), Janis Brenner (USA), Kevin Wynn (USA) and Gideon Obarzanek (Chunky Move, Australia).

Yan Dan’s diverse experiences as a choreographer, dancer and teacher bring a refreshing perspective to DES Arts productions. Her recent choreographic works include: Songs of the Wind, Motifs Traces IV, The Wedding, Lest We Forget, Unfaltering Faith, Whispers from the Dragon’s Teeth Gate and Symbiosis of an Author’s Life.
