To celebrate and support the exceptional talents within TEAMdpa, Dancepointe Academy proudly offers scholarships that recipients can apply towards termly school fees and official Dancepointe merchandise. These scholarships serve to recognise the dedication and hard work of our dancers, encouraging them to continue their impressive performances into the upcoming year.

In 2023, Dancepointe Academy awards scholarships and awards totaling $13,000 to honor outstanding individual competition team dancers and exceptional troupe competition achievements.

TEAMdpa : Our Competition Teams

At Dancepointe Academy, we are dedicated to providing exceptional Dance Education through our TEAMdpa Talent Program; The Apprentice Team, tailored for selected outstanding dancers to compete in a Troupe setting. This program encompasses several age-specific levels:

Teeny Apprentice (6-7 years old)
First Apprentice (8-9 years old)
Junior Apprentice (10-12 years old)
Youth Apprentice (13-15 years old)
Senior Apprentice (16 years old and above)

The Apprentice Team programme is designed to develop and nurture top talents, preparing dancers for careers as Professional Dancers, Teachers, or Choreographers globally and locally. Our curriculum includes intensive training in Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, and Acrobatics. Dancers participate in Competitions as a Troupe, with acrobatics and conditioning exercises integrated into our Troupe training. The teams are trained by selected DPA full-time teaching faculty who have extensive experience in choreography and performance.

Selected dancers will also have opportunities to compete in additional items as Solo, Duo, Trio, or Ensembles in these genres: Lyrical, Jazz, and Acrobatics. Exceptional dancers with proficiency in Ballet and Contemporary will be selected for Pre-Professional training as Soloists through The Apprentice Company. TEAMdpa dancers will gain priority access to global and local competitions, international dance exchanges, and public performances, consistently achieving high honors and scholarships at prestigious competitions. In the past years, we have had fruitful years, attaining 1st to 3rd Positions, Grand Prix Awards and Scholarships from various dance competitions in Singapore (2007-2024), Kuala Lumpur (2023), Italy (2018), Hong Kong (2018,2023-2024), Barcelona (2015), Bangkok (2011,2015 & 2024) and Perth (2013). An awesome and excellent collection of dance portfolio!

Annually, TEAMdpa dancers use their extensive portfolios for successful Direct School Admission (DSA) applications, securing placements in top schools.

The TEAMdpa program is heavily subsidized by 50%, with additional Scholarship Awards of $20,000 annually for exceptional soloists and bursaries for those needing financial aid.

Registration for the 2024/2025 auditions opens in May and closes on 25th July, 2024, with auditions on 8th - 9th August 2024, at DPA HQ in Ang Mo Kio. Any late registrations will be reviewed case by case. Note that the dancers would need to learn the videos before attending the Audition. *A video will be sent out on the 1st August 2024 for the candidates to learn and present during the audition. All auditionees will be guided by a teacher who will be going through the dance routine during the audition.

The Apprentice Company

Elite Classical Ballet Soloists

The Apprentice Company (TAC) is the Pre-Professional division of TEAMdpa. It focuses on specialised training for Soloists in Classical Ballet and Contemporary for outstanding Apprentice Team students. To be selected as a TAC soloist, dancers have to be part of the The Apprentice Team (Troupe Competition) later on. The Company is trained by selected DPA full-time teaching faculty who have extensive experience in choreography and performance.

*The prerequisite to be part of troupes is not required for PSLE, O’ Levels and A' Levels Students.

Soloist Private Class Rate + Troupe Training is only at $110 per hour, inclusive of studio rental and choreography fees, at a subsidised rate. Dancepointe Academy offers affordable rates so that these opportunities can be reached out to more dancers.

We seek your understanding that only top 10% of dancers (base on scores) will be selected during the Audition due to high demand and limited spaces. Another 10% of dancers will be selected for our second company, The Apprentice Company II (TAC II), where they will train to compete in one competition as a Solo or Duo.

TAC Ballet Curriculum Structure:

Train in Classical Ballet Variations, conditioning, stretching and strengthening
Non-syllabus work focusing on Classical Ballet techniques, performance quality and artistry
Participation in multiple Pre-Professional Classical Ballet Competitions such Asian Grand Prix Singapore, Asian Grand Prix Hong Kong, Masterpiece International, International Ballet Grand Prix, New York Grand Prix & World Ballet Grand Prix
TAC Dancers will be required to perform Classical Ballet Solo for other competitions
Only students with Distinction in their most recent ballet exam are eligible to apply for this Team. TAC dancers will be exempted from RAD coaching class, unless required.

TAC Contemporary Curriculum Structure:

Learn the various contemporary techniques such as Cunningham, Graham, Limón and Release Technique
To prepare them in Pre Professional platforms for Contemporary Solo such as Asian Grand Prix, Masterpiece International, International Ballet Grand Prix and Youth America Grand Prix
To enhance their opportunities in Direct School Admission Auditions when Ballet and Contemporary are most popular style of dance

All TAC contemporary soloists are encouraged to join an optional Contemporary group class to train their skills in Contemporary Techniques besides Classical Ballet on a weekly basis. A consistent training regime in the contemporary dance technique will grow the dancer’s understanding and confidence in performing the technique.

TThe Apprentice Company II (TAC II) Ballet and Contemporary Structure:

Train in Classical Ballet/Contemporary Techniques & Variations, conditioning, stretching and strengthening
Non syllabus work focusing on techniques, performance quality and artistry
1 Competition for the year. May be a Solo or Duo, depending on assessment.
An opportunity to perform 1 Ballet Variation/ Choreography on stage yearly in Theatre.
A year’s programme, thereafter to be assessed again for TAC or TAC II teams.

Auditions for 2024/2025 TAC Soloists will be held on 1st July 2024 at Dancepointe Academy HQ @ Ang Mo Kio . A stage sized dance studio specially built for Dance Competitions. Newly selected dancers will start their training from August 2024.

Age eligibility (In the national year that they will be competing):

Classical Ballet Soloists: From age 5 years with Distinctions in RAD exams. For lower levels with no exams, you may apply.
Contemporary Soloists: From age 9 years

The audition for Troupes, and other Soloists in Lyrical and Jazz will be held on 8th – 9th August 2024. Registration will start in May and audition information can be found on www.dancepointe.com.sg/audition2024 . Registration closes on 25th July 2024.
