Melynda Teng

Biography

Ms. Melynda Teng is a seasoned dancer who embarked on her classical ballet journey at the tender age of 3 under the tutelage of Ms. Kok Huishi at the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD). With unwavering dedication, she achieved excellence by obtaining Grade 1-8, Intermediate, and Advanced 1 qualifications in RAD Classical Ballet.

Her passion for dance blossomed further as she embraced contemporary dance as part of her Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), showcasing her talent through captivating solo performances at various events, including teachers' day celebrations.

Fuelled by love and determination, Ms. Melynda pursued a Diploma in Dance at LASALLE College of the Arts, where she delved into a rich tapestry of dance styles such as contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, salsa, and various Asian dance forms. Her journey at LASALLE was marked by extensive performances, collaborating with renowned choreographers worldwide. Notably, she mesmerized audiences with her performance in "Praying Mantis" by Vision of the Dance Production Barcelona Company at the Esplanade Theatre in October 2013. She also contributed to "mimetic recall," a significant project for choreographer John Mead's masters' thesis.

Ms. Melynda's qualifications include a Diploma in Dance from LASALLE College of The Arts, RAD Vocational Graded – Advanced 1 for Classical Ballet, and the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS). Her expertise extends to being a Senior RAD Registered Ballet Mistress in Dancepointe, showcasing her commitment to dance education.

Ms. Melynda's dedication to dance extends beyond her own achievements; since 2015, she has been imparting her expertise as a teacher at Dancepointe. Her impact is evident in the numerous students she has guided through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations, a testament to her commitment to nurturing the next generation of dancers. 

In her role as a dance teacher, Ms. Melynda has successfully coached students for solo, duo, trio, and ensemble competitions, consistently achieving remarkable placings. Her influence as a ballet mistress extends beyond individual performances, shaping a legacy of excellence in the dance community.
