Biography

Mr Dan Kwoh – An award-winning choreographer widely recognized for the visual treat in his choreographies. In the course of his career, his works have clinched several accolades in both local and international competitions. The list of awards for his accomplishments is extensive, including Bolzano International Dance Competition 2013, Grand Prix Italy 2012 and Dance Grand Prix in Barcelona Dance Award 2011, to name a few. Dan also achieved Best Choreography and Best Ethnic Dance for three consecutive years. In addition, his works have been well received, attaining the Best Contemporary Dance at the New Prague Dance Festival 2009 and Asia Pacific Dance Competition 2008 and Perth Theatrical Dance Festival 2007.

In 2001, Dan was the recipient of the Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship by the National Arts Council for his professional training at the LASALLE College of the Arts. While studying, he won the “Best Male Dancer- award at the Perth Theatrical Dance Festival 2005. A former scholar of the Singapore Ballet Academy, Dan is also affiliated to the World Dance Alliance (Singapore) and has represented Singapore in international dance festivals in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Dan is the resident choreographer of SMU INDANCITY and teaches in numerous dance organizations and local institutions. He was commissioned to choreograph large-scale works at prestigious events including the Inaugural Asian Youth Games Opening 2009, National Day Parade (2005/2006/2010), Singapore Youth Festival Opening 2008 and Chingay Parade (2007/2008/2012). Dan has created a new work that was presented during the Singapore Arts Festival (2010), Campus Platform series. Recently, his work was selected to present at the Global Dance Summit 2012 in Taiwan. Dan is now part of Dancepointe Academy Singapore, founder of the Contemporary Division – the dACADEMY Singapore and running with its teachers for the contemporary curriculum.
